Why is it so hard to loose weight and keep it off?
We all know those people who are able to eat anything and not put on any weight, why can they do it and not me?
How many diets have we tried which seem to work for a while, but gradually the pounds pile back on? The crash diets, fads and trends where food is the enemy, we might be slimmer, for while, but we feel awful and we can’t sustain them long term.
We lose some weight – we put it back on.
Each time we feel even more miserable than we did before.
Some of us, when we look back at ourweight loss history find that over time we actually put weight on.
What a contradiction!
Does any of this sound familiar?
So is there a secret, what do slim people do differently?
People who are happy with their weight and keep to a healthy weight often don’t actually try. They don’t even think about it. Often it’s about “habits, learned behaviours and having a healthy relationship with food and exercise”.
Our relationship with food and exercise is developed throughout our life and is different for every one of us.
Hypnosis helps us to overcome our learned subconscious obstacles which prevent us from losing weight and from keeping it off after a successful diet. We know eating a healthy diet and taking exercise is what we should do, however, these are not conscious, logical issues. Successful weight loss is as much about re-educating our subconscious mind as it is about dieting.

Hypnotherapy can help with weight loss and weight management in many ways:
Developing a new self image, imagine yourself as you want to be at your idea weight and make that your desired outcome.
Learning to be more relaxed about weight loss and weight management. Stress is often a serious factor in poor diet and comfort eating.
Positive thinking about weight and diet. Stop worrying about your weight and weight loss and start looking forward to losing weight and achieving your goals.
Create a self-fulfilling prophecy. In other words, start to feel better about yourself. Which will help you to lose weight and, of course, losing weight will help you to feel even better about who you are and what you can achieve. The whole thing becomes a very positive cycle which goes round and round. Most people expect to have to lose weight in order to feel good about themselves. Interestingly, when you start to feel good about yourself, weight loss, health and happiness often follow.
Hypnosis (subconscious reprogramming) can be one of the most natural ways to lose weight.
We all know that to lose weight we need to eat less and exercise more.
Many statistics show that dieting does not work for maintaining weightloss long term and that diets often fail. Whilst diets can be useful for losing a few pounds quickly for a special occasion however to maintain a healthy weight in the long term, we really need to be thinking about things differently.
We need to be developing new habits and changing our relationship with food and our health.
Diets often seem to encourage people to adopt two very strong beliefs. That we have to avoid foods and make ourselves do something we don’t want to do, and that dieting is hard and diets are difficult to stick to, both very negative conceipts.
Modern approaches to change, including hypnotherapy and other applied psychology methods create a very serious challenge to both of these beliefs and help us create new positive reationships with food and exercise. Overall a more positive approach.
Hypnotherapists believe that healthy weight management can be approached like any habit and that it can be a choice. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy works on a subconscious level to help you achieve a state of mind where you can actually lose weight willingly, with eating healthily and taking exercise a lifestyle choice.
